Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards unfolded recently, and through an impressive performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the biggest winner. This surprise role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the prestigious Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Complementing the studio's triumph, its gifted actors also garnered personal awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved 7 awards during the show.
Other major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Best Audio Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only 4 awards—Critics' Pick, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—judged by experts.
