Homages Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.

Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.

‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director

Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his deep grief.

"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started spending more time together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the film, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without joy".

"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to helm it," Elwes expressed.

He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade

In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.

Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld

This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A legal directive put a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.

The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Response and Criticism

In the wake of the tragedy, public figures offered different reactions.

Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by many individuals.

Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the detractors last week. Speaking on his show, Rogan labeled the remarks as "shocking" and implied they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan concluded by proposing that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
