Jennifer Lawrence States Mentioning Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ Dividing the Nation Apart

Lawrence has expressed that she no longer feels fitting to speak out countering the Trump presidency, fearing it could intensify polarizing arguments and increase separation across the United States.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Explains the Actress

During a discussion, Lawrence shared, “During the first Trump administration, I thought I was moving hastily like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars have no real impact at all on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to heighten conflict dividing the nation apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has admitted freely about voting for both conservative and liberal presidential nominees throughout her life. Raised by Republican parents in her home state, she supported the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and revealing she recognized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was undermining her individual liberties as a woman.

Earlier Remarks

Several years ago, she commented that Donald Trump’s election might signal “the end of the world” and backed Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she gave her endorsement to Vice President Harris, “because I feel she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will do whatever she can to defend women’s health rights.”

Celebrity Views

Lawrence was aligned with many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to the former president as a returning figure, but the lack of leverage stars have over the public choices was underscored by the outcome.

“Another four years feels different,” noted she regarding his leadership. “Because he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was transparent. And that’s what we chose.”

Latest Film

The actor is highlighting the drama, director Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she plays a young mom who struggles with her emotional state in rural Montana. Speaking at a press conference for the movie in Venice, Lawrence addressed Israel’s bombings in Gaza: “I feel fear. It’s horrifying. What’s taking place is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s terrible.”

Wider Issues

The actress elaborated by saying that she was saddened by “the disrespect in the discourse of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be commonplace to the children right now. It’s going to be standard to them that leaders are untruthful.”

Lawrence aimed to shift anger about the issue to leaders rather than entertainers. “Concentrate on those accountable,” she remarked, in what many took to be a nod to the recent commitment supported by thousands of Hollywood professionals to refuse engagement with Israeli film institutions.

Personal Connections

The actor, who received an Academy Award at a young age for her part in Silver Linings Playbook, is receiving praise for her work in Die, My Love. Although Lynne Ramsay has denied the plot being seen as one of postpartum depression and psychosis, the actress revealed that she connected with elements of her film narrative after the birth of her youngest child, not long after shooting ended.

“It was fear about my child,” she commented, “imagining every worst-case scenario, and then questioning everything that I was attempting. I was receiving counseling, but I got on a drug called that medicine and I continued it for two weeks and it really helped.”

Career Moments

Lawrence also spoke of the empowering aspect of completing nude scenes in the project while she was in pregnancy and unable to exercise.

“There’s a freedom,” she said, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “I mean, I do have moments where I’m like, What technically are the differences between my work and that profession? But it isn’t a major concern.”
